Team Building Lost at Sea – Leadership and Teamwork

This team building programme aims to strengthen participants’ skills in leading work groups, applying knowledge in an integrated way and encouraging self-awareness and, where needed, change in attitudes and behaviours.

All participants take turns in the roles of leader and team member, which helps develop essential interpersonal skills and a collective awareness that enables professional challenges to be handled as efficiently as possible.

The practical component of this programme (5h30) is reinforced by a 1h30 workshop systematising theoretical models, entitled Leadership and Teamwork.

The underlying model focuses on the approach to and application of:

• Strategies to enhance abilities such as interpersonal relationships, mutual support and work coordination;
• The three fundamental principles: task completion, group cohesion and individual development, supported by skills such as clarifying situations, defining strategies, coordinating actions and facilitating learning.
• The 6W2H model (what, why, where, when, who, with, how, how much) for comprehensive leadership development.

What practical challenges will participants face?

.

Participants will have missions/objectives to achieve, with given, limited resources and a few “obstacles”. Defining the strategy and coordinating the group will be essential.

Achieving their objectives will involve some of the following activities:

• Sea survival activities requiring strategy and coordination (carried out in a pool environment);
• Confined Space and Smoke Simulator – a practical exercise in which participants must escape from a maze with limited visibility;
• Completing tasks in a survival craft (TEMPSC) as it is lowered into the water;
• Completing timed tasks in the helicopter simulator while it is semi-submerged (carried out in a pool environment);
• Among others.
